The human heart is the main organ of the circulatory system.  The heart is really a muscle.  It is found a little to the left of the middle of your chest.  It is about the size of your fist.  The heart circulates blood, providing the body cells with the oxygen and food they need.  It also carries away the waste that cells produce.
The heart is like a pump that circulates blood throughout the body.  The right side of the heart receives oxygen-poor blood from the cells of the body.  From there, the blood is pumped to the lungs where oxygen is added.  The left side of the heart receives oxygen-rich blood from the lungs.  Then, it sends this blood to all the cells of the body.  The adult heart pumps about 70 times a minute.
